In 2007-2008 Lenpromstroy Group carried out works aimed to reroute all the underground engineering networks from under the spot of housing development. The most difficult issue was to reroute the existing collector of city storm-water canalisation 1000 mm in diameter. With the outfall into the Gulf of Finland and situated below the water level in the gulf. Rerouting works were in part carried out on the pier, where international passenger liners berth, in customs control zone. It was necessary not only to complete the main works, but also to prevent the pier structures from destruction. For this, two collector rerouting projects were designed. The first was with the help of a microtunnel. The second, in the open way. After a comprehensive comparison of the two variants, the open way was chosen which completely paid off. Works were completed within the established deadlines and with high quality result.
